The 2011 PTT-EGAT World Cup runs from 11-17 July 2011.
Format
Round Robin
The 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five countries each. Each team plays each other once over five frames – all five frame will be completed – with two singles encounters, a doubles tie, and the reverse singles matches the order of play. The doubles match will be played by each player taking alternate shots.
One point will be awarded for every frame won and the two nations in each group with the most points after all the matches are completed will progress to the quarter-finals.
Knockout Stage
The knockout stage, beginning with the last 8, works much to the same way as before except matches are now best of 7 frames.
The two singles, doubles and reverse singles encounters will be followed by a second doubles match (if needed). If the match is all square at 3-3 after the six frames, a sudden-death singles match will be played with the captains of each team nominating a player.
