Wild Wins European Championship

Michael Wild has become the 2015 European champion after beating Jamie Clarke 7-4 in the final in Prague.

Michael WildThe 34 year-old built up an early lead against Welshman Clarke, who had earlier knocked out Irish national champion Brendan O’Donoghue, and held on despite a spirited comeback to capture the prestigious amateur title.

The victory ensures that the Englishman will return to the main tour as a professional for the first time in 11 years.

Wild previously had an unsuccessful stint on the circuit during the 2003/04 campaign and has also been a regular on the Players Championship series since its inception in 2010.

Wild has missed the opportunity to compete in the Australian Open but will receive a two-year card, effective immediately.
