The 2016/17 Irish senior campaign gets under way on Saturday at the Ivy Rooms in Carlow.
62 players have entered the first event of the season, with six in total scheduled between now and the Irish National Championship in May.
Jason Devaney finished the last term ranked number one and so is the top seed for the Barracks Classic, earning a bye into the last 32.
National champion TJ Dowling is also in the draw with his first outing coming against Joe Corrigan.
The likes of Michael Judge, Brendan O’Donoghue, David Hogan, Greg Casey and Jonathan Williams will also be competing for the €500 winner’s cheque.
Following on from its success in the last National Championship, there’ll be a live streaming service with two tables set to be broadcast online.
Meanwhile, the first Masters event of the season takes place on Sunday.
Last week saw the underage categories get under way as Adam Fitzgerald won the Under-21s, thus guaranteeing his spot in the European Under-21 Championship in March.
Ross Bulman, who also plays in Youghal CYMS, won the first Under-18s event while Noel Gleeson was successful in the Under-14s discipline.
