TJ Dowling beat Philip Browne 4-1 to capture the Hickson Centra Irish Open at the Ivy Rooms on Sunday.
In the second ranking event of the campaign, Dowling reproduced the kind of form which earned him a third National Championship back in May.
Dowling, who pocketed €500 for his efforts, recorded earlier victories over Brendan O’Donoghue in the last eight and Michael Judge in the semi-finals – both in deciders.
Dublin’s Browne, meanwhile, embarked on a maiden run to the final of this status following impressive defeats of Rodney Goggins and Robert Murphy.
Success for Dowling shoots him up the rankings to join O’Donoghue, who in September won the Barracks Classic, in top spot.
Later this week, Jonathan Williams, who reached the quarter-finals only to narrowly lose to Murphy 3-2, will return with his popular feature Sniper’s Snippets.
