The draw and format for this weekend’s LITEtask UK Women’s Snooker Championship has been released with defending champion Ng On Yee and former world number one Reanne Evans seeded through to the last 16.
On Yee beat Evans 4-1 in last year’s final, spearheading a tremendous season on the women’s tour in which she also captured the world crown for a third time as well as the Eden Women’s Masters.
This year’s edition of the UK Women’s Snooker Championship has it return to its home at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds and represents the curtain raiser for the new World Women’s Snooker Tour season following the summer break.
The event will see nine of the world’s top ten feature among a 28-player field that is set to compete for the title, including five newcomers to the women’s circuit.
Maria Catalano, Rebecca Kenna, and Nutcharut Wongharuthai are some of the more recognisable names who will be attempting to make it beyond the initial round robin phase into the knockouts.
Alongside the main tournament there will also be side-events for Under-21 and Seniors players while there will be a Challenge Cup event for players who have been knocked out of the main competition in the early stages.
The tournament will be preceded by the first ever Women’s Snooker Open Day, to take place at Leeds Kirkgate Markets from 10:00am-4:00pm on Friday, 14th September – with opportunities for women to get involved and try snooker under the guidance of accredited WPBSA World Snooker coaches.
