QUIZ! World Snooker Championship Quarter-Finalists

More than one-third of the total Crucible participants since 1977 have reached this stage of the competition.

The eight quarter-finalists in the 2021 World Snooker Championship stand just one win away from reaching the revered single table set-up at the Crucible Theatre, and three victories separate them from the coveted title.

The four matches will be completed on Wednesday with three of them delicately poised as things stand in Sheffield.

Kyren Wilson fought back from 5-2 down to tie with Neil Robertson at 8-8 heading into their final session, while Anthony McGill orchestrated a 9-7 overnight advantage against Stuart Bingham.

Elsewhere, world number one and pre-tournament favourite Judd Trump is locked at 4-4 with fellow former world champion Shaun Murphy.

The only match that appears to be one-sided as things stand is the all-Marks encounter between Williams and Selby, with the latter boasting a 6-2 cushion after their initial bout of play.

Since the World Snooker Championship moved to the Crucible Theatre all the back in 1977, there have been a total of 80 quarter-finalists from the 220 overall participants at the venue stages in Sheffield.

This year is only the eighth in the 45-year history at snooker’s spiritual home that there have been no new additions to the list – although it is in fact the fourth time in the last eight years that this has happened.

The quarter-final round at the World Championship is generally one of the most-liked as it’s compact format, with a quartet of matches played seamlessly across two days of rip-roaring action, lends itself perfectly to an enthralling accumulation of tension and drama.

The question is, how many World Snooker Championship quarter-finalists at the Crucible Theatre can you name in this quiz?
