Si Jiahui compiled a maximum break but still suffered the disappointment of an early exit from Championship League Snooker on Tuesday in Leicester.
The Chinese cueist is one of only four members from the top 16 competing in this year’s edition of the season-opening ranking event.
Si produced the second 147 break of the fledgling 2026/27 campaign in the opening frame of his 3-0 victory over Xu Yichen.
It represented the second maximum of the 23 year-old’s career and the 243rd officially recognised 147 break in professional snooker.
Yet that proved to be his only victory of the day at the Mattioli Arena.
Draws against Sean Maddocks and Marco Fu ultimately left Si short of qualification, with the latter advancing from Group 6 instead.
The veteran Hong Kong star supplemented his crucial 2-2 tie with Si at the end of the day by earlier recording victories over Maddocks and Xu to book his place in Stage Two.
Fu is bidding to add to the three ranking titles he has already captured during a distinguished career on the main tour.
Joining him in the next phase will be fellow Hong Kong competitor Cheung Ka Wai.
The 27 year-old produced a flawless display to top Group 26 with a perfect record of three wins from three matches.
Cheung surrendered only a single frame as he overcame Ashley Carty, George Pragnell, and Matthew Stevens to complete a Hong Kong double on Tuesday.
There are now only four groups left to be determined in Stage One before the competition moves on to its second phase.
Jack Lisowski headlines Group 7 on Wednesday alongside Liam Highfield, Zhao Hanyang, and Jack Bradford.
Elsewhere, former Championship League winner Luca Brecel enters the fray in Group 31 with Aaron Hill, Deng Haohui, and Mitchell Mann for company.
Championship League Snooker represents the opening ranking event of the fledgling 2026/27 snooker season.
The overall winner on July 15th will take home £33,000 worth of prize money and ranking points, plus a ticket to the lucrative Champion of Champions invitational later this year.

There is something truly majestical about the awe inspiring 147 in snooker. The absolute precision to create a mindful play forward, potting 36 balls consecutively with only one sequence including potting a black after each red until there are no more reds/black sequence left and then finishing off with the yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and finally the black ball all totaling 147 points.
This is not like a hole in one like golf nor an ace in tennis which basically or 180 in darts where basically by the name itself that after so many shots in taken in golf , tennis or darts is that eventually someone is going to fluke/hit one amazing shot. In snooker, the player needs to be spot on in potting, leaving the cue ball in the right location for the next pot, exercise a plan to build a break and execute than plan to perfection with zero room for any mistakes. It truly is a masterpiece.
Team sports treat the player who scores the winning goal in a big game as a legend, maybe that is our inner need to salute a winner, but when it comes to snooker, your are the goalie, defense, midfielder and striker all in one person and a 147 resembles perfect execution of this special event.
It is nice to see Luca Brecel win for a change. I hope he can go forward into the bigger tournaments. I don’t know if he always plays this way, but he seemed bored with the match, taking very little time to take his very impressive pots/breaks.
