Summary
A winner of the World Amateur Championship in 1996, Stuart Bingham was heralded as a young talent who could potentially go on to reach the highest echelons.
However, the Englishman’s early tenure on the Main Tour proved to be difficult, and rather than establishing himself as a top pro, he built up a reputation as a bit of a journey man.
Everything changed dramatically upon the introduction of the Barry Hearn era in 2010, though.
With more tournaments on the calendar and an increased opportunity to compete, Bingham began to finally live up to his potential.
MORE PLAYER PROFILES:
The player known as Ballrun secured a maiden ranking event triumph at the 2011 Australian Open with a 9-8 defeat of Mark Williams in the final.
A place among the top 16 in the world rankings was an additional reward, and he has been an ever-present in that bracket since – reaching a career-high of number two.
Bingham’s crowning achievement occurred in 2015, when he stormed through a difficult draw to capture the World Championship title at the Crucible Theatre.
A prolific break-builder when in top form, Bingham has accumulated nine maximum breaks throughout his career in professional competition.
One of his other standout achievements came in 2020 when he landed glory at the 2020 Masters in London.
