The venue stages of the 2025 Wuhan Open begin on Sunday with the likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, and Zhao Xintong in the draw.
The season’s third ranking event will see the World Snooker Tour return to China following the recent Shanghai Masters invitational, which was won by Wilson.
Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan contested the last ranking event final a week ago when they battled for the £500,000 top prize at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.
Neither of the pair will be in action in Wuhan, however, after opting to withdraw from this year’s edition of the competition.
The prize money here doesn’t quite match what was on offer in Jeddah, but there is still a handsome champion’s cheque worth £140,000 up for grabs.

Who are the former champions?
Having been launched as recently as 2023, the Wuhan Open is one of the newer ranking events on the calendar.
At the time, it was the first ranking tournament to be staged in China in almost four years following the global pandemic.
Judd Trump emerged as the inaugural winner by beating Ali Carter in the first final, while Xiao Guodong triumphed a year later in 2024.
For Xiao, his success over fellow Chinese potter Si Jiahui secured him a maiden ranking crown after almost two decades competing as a professional on the main tour.
Who is in the 2025 Wuhan Open draw?
As the reigning champion, Xiao Guodong is the top seed in the 2025 Wuhan Open draw with reigning world champion Zhao Xintong in the other half as the second seed.
The duo are among a few players who have had their round-of-128 fixtures held over from the qualifying phase that was already held in June.
Xiao will encounter women’s world number one Mink Nutcharut while Zhao is set to face Ukraine’s Iulian Boiko.
Judd Trump, Ding Junhui, and Mark Allen are a few of the others who have had their initial games in the event deferred.
World number one Trump is the outright favourite in the snooker betting and he’ll begin his bid to win the title for the second time against Farakh Ajaib.
The majority of the other contenders have already reached the last 64 having safely negotiated their preliminary matches in Leicester.
That includes Kyren Wilson, Mark Williams, John Higgins, Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, and Barry Hawkins.
Stephen Maguire, who won the 2025/26 season-opening Championship League Snooker ranking event, is also in the field.
