Thepchaiya Un-Nooh compiled his second 147 break in as many events as he reached the last 32 of the Wuhan Open on Monday.
The popular player from Thailand produced his sixth career maximum break in the last frame of his 5-1 defeat of Pang Junxu in China.
It takes the total number of 147 breaks constructed this season to seven already, with the single campaign record of 15 definitely under the threat.
Un-Nooh has accounted for two of those with his previous knock coming at the recent Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in Jeddah.
The former Shoot Out champion stands to take home a share of the £5,000 high break prize at the Wuhan Open.
However, he joked afterwards that it was a pity how he didn’t make his second 147 break of the season at a Triple Crown event.
Compiling two maximums at the major tournaments this season generates of jackpot bonus of £147,000 – a cheque Ronnie O’Sullivan handily took home after his spectacular double in Jeddah just over a week ago.
“Oh I’m so happy today,” Thepchaiya Un-Nooh told the World Snooker Tour after setting up a round-of-32 tie against Scott Donaldson.
“It looks like I made it at the wrong tournament. I should have made it at the Triple Crown event to get the £147,000.”
“But anyway, I’m so happy to make the 147th 147 on a Star table. Yeah, I’m so happy. It’s a nice thing to be remembered by.
“Before I arrived in Wuhan, I made it twice on the practice game, so it gave me a lot of confidence to make a 147 this time.
“Everything was quite open and in a perfect position. I just tried myself to do a 147 like I did many times in the practice.
“Getting an opportunity to make a 147 is dependent on the balls. If everything is perfect, then I’m going to make it.”
Elsewhere on day two of the 2025/26 season’s third ranking event, there were victories for world number one Judd Trump and world champion Zhao Xintong.
Trump contributed a brace of tons during his routine 5-1 defeat of Liu Hongyu, while Zhao edged Matthew Stevens in a closer 5-3 affair.
Reigning Wuhan Open champion Xiao Guodong, who compiled a 147 break in the previous round, also advanced with a 5-2 triumph over Ishpreet Singh Chadha.
There were a couple of notable upsets, though, with Shanghai Masters champion Kyren Wilson exiting early following a 5-2 reverse against Aaron Hill.
The improving Irishman made breaks of 124, 60, 56, and 55 to see off the challenge of the world number two.
Ding Junhui also bowed out of the running in Wuhan after suffering a 5-3 loss to up-and-coming teenage talent Stan Moody.
The last 32 takes place on Tuesday with the likes of Mark Williams, Mark Selby, John Higgins, Mark Allen, and Shaun Murphy also still in contention for glory.
