The latest snooker rankings update follows the conclusion of the Wuhan Open, the 2025/26 season’s third ranking event.
Xiao Guodong captured his second ranking title by successfully defending the Wuhan Open at the Optics Valley Gymnasium on Saturday.
The 36 year-old emerged victoriously from a ding-dong battle with Gary Wilson that ebbed one way and then the other before Xiao completed a dramatic 10-9 win.
The repeat success for Xiao takes him to new ground in the snooker rankings and guarantees his qualification for the prestigious Champion of Champions invitational.
Let’s briefly touch on how the action over the last week or so has affected the two main standings.
Top 16
It’s as you were at the top of the official two-year rankings with the top seven places remaining unchanged since the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.
Judd Trump, who lost to Wilson in the last 16 and has endured a difficult start to the new campaign, continues to occupy the world number one position.
The Englishman boasts a lead of over £600,000 to Kyren Wilson in second, with Neil Robertson, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and Mark Williams completing the top five.
John Higgins and Ding Junhui stay in sixth and seventh respectively ahead of Xiao Guodong, who rises six places to a career-high ranking of number eight in the world after collecting the £140,000 champion’s cheque in Wuhan.
Mark Selby and Mark Allen round off the top ten with world champion Zhao Xintong dropping down a spot to 11th.
The points that Barry Hawkins had accrued for capturing the 2023 European Masters title have been deducted from his rolling two-year tally, which sees him plummet down four rungs on the ladder to 12th.
Zhang Anda, Chris Wakelin, Si Jiahui, and Gary Wilson are the other current members of the top 16.
Wilson’s reward for reaching the Wuhan Open final and pocketing the £63,000 runner-up prize is a return to the elite bracket of the snooker rankings.
That in turn pushes Shaun Murphy down to 17th – snapping a 19-year unbroken streak in which the Magician had held a top-16 status.
Among the others, Zhang has work to do if he is to prolong his top 16 tenure with his ranking points from the 2023 International Championship triumph soon to be removed.
The Chinese competitor is way down at number 23 on the provisional Race to the UK Championship standings.
Other Movers
With so many of the higher seeds reaching the latter stages of the Wuhan Open, there wasn’t a lot of movement elsewhere in the rankings.
Stan Moody, however, has risen four spots and is up to a career-high of number 57 in the world following his maiden run to a ranking event quarter-final.
Taking a look at the provisional end-of-season rankings will let you know that the likes of Jamie Jones, Anthony McGill, Jordan Brown, Mark Davis, and Robbie Williams are in jeopardy of tour survival as things stand.

1-year snooker rankings
Xiao Guodong hadn’t accumulated any ranking points this season before heading to Wuhan, but he now boasts £140,000 worth of them.
That sees the 36 year-old jump to third on the one-year rankings list that provides a gateway to qualification for several lucrative events later in the campaign.
The top 32 will qualify for the World Grand Prix, the top 16 will then participate at the Players Championship, before a 12-strong field will eventually assemble for the Tour Championship.
Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan remain in first and second position following their exploits in the megarich Saudi tournament.
Elliot Slessor and Chris Wakelin each drop down a place to complete the top five ahead of Gary Wilson, who rises 16 spots to sixth.
Mark Allen’s run to the semi-finals in Wuhan ensures that the Northern Irishman moves into the top 32 in 23rd spot.
Among those outside the top 32 at present are John Higgins and Judd Trump, but there are plenty of ranking events coming up on the calendar.
Note: Ranking points earned from the British Open qualifiers are provisional and have not been included in the below list.
