World Snooker Tour
UK Championship
The venue stages of the UK Championship began on Saturday and will continue into the first week of December.
It’s an important stretch of the season, with the final held in York’s Barbican Centre and a huge amount of ranking points and prestige on the line.
The closing rounds are always packed with story lines, making it one of the most compelling weeks on the snooker calendar.
Judd Trump is the reigning UK champion having got his hands on the trophy for the second time 12 months ago, and the world number one came through his opening match on day one of the 2025 edition with a 6-4 victory over Stephen Maguire.
When is it? November 29 to December 7, 2025.
Snooker Shoot Out
Later in December comes the Snooker Shoot Out, snooker’s most unpredictable and arguably its most controversial ranking event.
With its single-frame shoot outs, 10-minute matches, and shot-clock pressure, this tournament routinely delivers shocks and breakout performances.
Fans either loathe it or love it for the chaos factor, and players outside the top bracket often view it as a rare chance to make a sudden run to the latter stages.
Tom Ford proved this a year ago with his breakthrough maiden triumph at a full ranking tournament, beating Liam Graham in the final.
When is it? December 10-13, 2025.
Scottish Open
The month rounds off with the Scottish Open, the last major ranking event before the Christmas and New Year break.
Held as part of the Home Nations Series, it consistently produces dramatic finals and strong local interest from the Scottish crowd in Edinburgh.
In recent years, the Scottish Open has often given us surprise champions with Gary Wilson becoming a back-to-back winner in 2022 and 2023, and Lei Peifan stunning the field a year ago.
When is it? December 15-21, 2025.
Amateur snooker
Q Tour 5
The Q Tour continues in December with the amateur players on the satellite snooker circuit striving for a potentially lucrative main tour card.
The fifth stop at the Bulgarian Snooker Academy in Sofia is the last one of the calendar year, with Hammad Miah, Peter Lines, Simon Blackwell, and Jamie Clarke having already won one title apiece this term.
When is it? December 4-7, 2025.
Pluto Snooker 900
The Pluto Snooker 900 – a new rapid, short-format series that runs on a weekly basis – continues through December and offers fast, spectator-friendly snooker for amateurs and pros alike.
The Crucible Cup in Reading was recently staged with Neil Robertson emerging victorious from a field that also included John Higgins, Mark Williams, and Stephen Hendry.
When is it? Weekly throughout December.
World Seniors Tour
British Seniors Open
December also features the British Seniors Open, boasting one of the strongest fields ever assembled on the World Seniors Tour.
Reigning world seniors champion Alfie Burden leads the draw and is joined by former Crucible kings Ken Doherty and Stuart Bingham, four-time world seniors champion Jimmy White, and a stellar supporting cast that includes Matthew Stevens, Dominic Dale, Joe Perry, and Anthony Hamilton.
The quarter-final lineup produces several standout clashes with the tournament in Derby set to be broadcast live on Channel 5 in the UK and Ireland.
