Mark Selby jumped five places in the snooker rankings after sealing a dramatic victory over Judd Trump in the UK Championship final on Sunday.
The latest rankings update follows the conclusion of the 2025/26 snooker season’s ninth ranking event where Selby beat Trump 10-8 in York.
It represents back-to-back triumphs on the circuit for the Leicester man following his glory at the Champion of Champions invitational a month ago.
While that event didn’t have any impact on the rankings, the UK Championship with a prize fund of more than £1.2 million certainly did.
Let’s take a look at how the recent action at the qualifiers and at the Barbican Centre affected the two main snooker rankings lists.
Top 16 and the Masters draw
Judd Trump may have missed out on a first piece of silverware in 2025, but the Englishman still comfortably holds onto his world number one status.
Kyren Wilson, Neil Robertson, and Mark Williams continue to occupy the following three positions ahead of John Higgins, who rises one place to fifth.
After a brief spell where he was ranked outside the top ten, the £250,000 champion’s cheque has helped Mark Selby return to the top six.
Another strong week for semi-finalist Shaun Murphy has the Magician rising two spots to seventh ahead of Ronnie O’Sullivan, whose points for winning the 2023 UK Championship have been deducted from his rolling two-year total.
Mark Allen is in ninth before a quartet of Chinese competitors fill the next positions – Zhao Xintong, Xiao Guodong, Ding Junhui, and Wu Yize ranked from 10th to 13th respectively.
Barry Hawkins stays in 14th ahead of Si Jiahui and Gary Wilson, who have swapped places with each other in the order.
Those 16 players were confirmed as the top 16 seeds who will be invited to participate at the next Triple Crown event – the prestigious Masters at the Alexandra Palace in January.
The 2025 Masters draw was conducted on Sunday, and as usual there are plenty of exciting encounters in the first round.
2025 Masters Draw
Shaun Murphy (1) vs Wu Yize (13)
Mark Selby (8) vs Xiao Guodong (11)
Neil Robertson (5) vs Ronnie O’Sullivan (9)
Kyren Wilson (4) vs Si Jiahui (15)
Judd Trump (3) vs Ding Junhui (12)
Mark Williams (6) vs Mark Allen (10)
John Higgins (7) vs Barry Hawkins (14)
Zhao Xintong (2) vs Gary Wilson (16)
Other notable changes
Immediately below the top 16, not much has changed between the International Championship and now.
Pang Junxu’s run to the UK quarter-finals has helped the 25 year-old move up to 27th and just shy of a career-high status.
Hossein Vafaei had his points for reaching the semi-finals in 2023 taken away, so the Iranian has dropped down five places to number 32.
Further down, Michael Holt is up to 61st after securing back-to-back qualifications for the UK Championship.
Sanderson Lam, Mark Davis, and Jordan Brown are below the Hitman but will be involved in a scrap to sustain their top 64 rankings, and with it tour survival, by the end of the campaign.

1-year snooker rankings
Once again, the one-year snooker rankings will determine qualification for three lucrative events later in the campaign.
The fields for the 32-player World Grand Prix, the 16-field Players Championship, and the 12-strong Tour Championship all come from these standings.
Neil Robertson remains in first on the back of his glory at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.
Mark Selby rockets up to second ahead of Shaun Murphy, Mark Williams, Wu Yize, and Ronnie O’Sullivan, with UK runner-up Judd Trump in seventh.
Pang Junxu’s last-eight appearance has helped the former ranking event runner-up move into the top 32.
Luca Brecel, a world champion in 2023 but struggling badly for form these days, is way down at number 90 on the one-year snooker rankings list.

When is the next snooker event?
Next up is one of the most controversial ranking events on the snooker calendar, the fast-paced Shoot Out.
The 2025 edition runs from December 10th to 13th at the Tower Circus in Blackpool, and more details for that tournament will be available as usual here on SnookerHQ.com later this week.

I make it Selby’s 43rd career title.
It’s the first year since 2015 in which Ronnie O’Sullivan has failed to win a tournament.
118 centuries were made in this year’s UK Championship. The lowest number since 99 were compiled in 2017. The venues stages saw 35 this year.
Selby and Trump have never met at the World Championship.
