Scottish Open: 2025 draw, preview, and how to watch

There is another bumper week of snooker on the main tour to look forward to with the 2025 Scottish Open beginning on Monday.

It marks the third of four tournaments on the Home Nations Series with Mark Allen having won the first at the English Open in September.

Jack Lisowski subsequently secured a long-overdue maiden ranking title with his success at the Northern Ireland Open in Belfast.

Once again, there is a top prize worth £100,000 up for grabs and the players involved will be bidding to capture the Stephen Hendry Trophy in Edinburgh.

Who are the former champions?

This version of the Scottish Open was launched in 2016 as part of the Home Nations series, but just four out of the seven prior champions are still in the draw for the last 64.

Inaugural champion Marco Fu is absent from the field after being forced to pull out because of an elbow injury, while 2021 winner Luca Brecel also withdrew ahead of his scheduled match in the qualifiers.

Neil Robertson, champion in 2017, will be another no-show with first-round opponent He Guoqiang receiving a handy bye straight through to the last 32.

Gary Wilson and Mark Selby are both two-time champions, while Mark Allen additionally triumphed in the tournament back in 2018.

Last year’s winner was China’s Lei Peifan, who as the defending champion is the top seed in the 2025 Scottish Open draw.

Lei, who was ranked 84th in the world before his shock victory 12 months ago, boasts odds of 50/1 to orchestrate a repeat victory with more snooker odds and online slots available at 888 sportsbook and casino.

How does the 2025 Scottish Open draw work?

The 2025 Scottish Open brings together a strong field, headlined by several former champions and a large contingent of current top-16 players entering at the round-of-64 stage.

Judd Trump, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and Ding Junhui are notable players who decided not to enter, but a lot of the lineup is stacked with the usual contenders.

Defending champion Lei opens his tournament on Monday morning against Amir Sarkhosh as he begins his bid to retain the title.

Two-time winners Wilson and Selby face Lan Yuhao and Robbie McGuigan respectively, with Selby in particularly fine form following his recent glories at the Champion of Champions and the UK Championship.

Allen, meanwhile, starts his run against Ishpreet Singh Chadha with the Northern Irishman currently fronting the Home Nations Series rankings.

Following his victory in Brentwood and an ensuing semi-final appearance in Belfast, Allen is in prime position to claim the £150,000 Home Nations bonus by the conclusion of the Welsh Open early next year.

Elsewhere, Kyren Wilson faces Gao Yang and home favourite John Higgins has an opener against Antoni Kowalski.

Shaun Murphy begins against Liu Hongyu and Barry Hawkins plays Jiang Jun, with world champion Zhao Xintong enjoying safe passage through to the next round after the withdrawal of Robert Milkins.

Other notable first-round ties include Tom Ford versus Anthony McGill and Jack Lisowski against Wang Yuchen.
