Eight players will continue their efforts to capture the 2025 Scottish Open on Friday with the quarter-finals next up on the agenda in Edinburgh.
The last title of the calendar year, the Stephen Hendry Trophy, and a top prize worth £100,000 are up for grabs this weekend at the Meadowbank Sports Centre.
Two former Scottish Open champions are still in the hunt to secure a repeat success, while four of the remaining contenders are hoping to claim a maiden ranking crown.
Let’s take a look at the four quarter-final encounters in the 2025 Scottish Open draw.
Chris Wakelin vs Zhou Yuelong
Zhou Yuelong has enjoyed the Home Nations Series this season, reaching the English Open final, the Northern Ireland Open semis, and now the quarter-finals in Scotland.
The four-time ranking event runner-up fought his way back from 2-0 down to beat Stuart Bingham in a deciding frame late on Thursday.
Next up is Chris Wakelin, a player who will return to the top 16 on the official two-year world rankings when the final list for 2025 is confirmed at the end of this tournament.
Zhou and Wakelin have played each other just once before, way back in the first round of the 2020 English Open when the former won 4-2.

Jiang Jun vs Matthew Selt
Few would have predicted a quarter-final clash between Jiang Jun and Matthew Selt, the pair beginning the week way down on the one-year rankings.
Reaching the final for either would be enough to see them rise into the top 32 on that list and secure a last-gasp qualification for the World Grand Prix in February.
This, then, is a huge affair for both as they bid to make a rare appearance at the penultimate round of a ranking event.
Selt, of course, has more experience as a former Indian Open champion with Jiang featuring at this last-eight stage for the first time in his career.

Chang Bingyu vs Mark Selby
It was already a strong comeback campaign for Chang Bingyu, who returned to the professional tour this year following a period way through suspension.
But the young Chinese cueist has excelled even more in Edinburgh, adding Kyren Wilson to his list of conquests having earlier dispatched of Stephen Maguire and Si Jiahui.
Those results have helped Chang to safeguard his World Grand Prix ticket upon simultaneously reaching a ranking event quarter-final for the first time.
Progressing further won’t be easy, however, with two-time Scottish Open champion Mark Selby – currently on a 12-game winning streak – representing the next formidable obstacle to overcome.

Mark Allen vs Joe O’Connor
A champion at the English Open and a semi-finalist at the Northern Ireland Open, Mark Allen is again looking to contend for Home Nations silverware.
Either way, the Pistol’s consistency is aiding his chances of landing the £150,000 bonus that’s on offer for the highest earner across the four Home Nations Series events this term.
Allen, the 2018 Scottish Open champion, held off Zhang Anda for a 4-3 win in the last 16 and will face 2022 runner-up Joe O’Connor next.
The latter is ending the year strongly after suffering a dip in form following his run to the Championship League Snooker final at the start of the season.

Selt now playing in his first ranking semi since the 2022 Turkish Masters, according to Dave Hendon.
Wakelin should’ve finished this contest an hour ago. A number of frames he’s squandered when close to the winning line. It reminds me of Ronnie doing similar against Zhou Yuelong in York on December 2nd.
