SHQ Star Rating Explained

The SHQ Star Rating is an internal career classification system used by SnookerHQ.com.

It provides a simple, consistent overview of a player’s achievements and historical standing within the professional game.

The SHQ Star Rating system is designed as a reference guide rather than an official ranking or form-based metric, and it predominantly appears on Player Profile pages to assign a clear level of career performance.

What is the SHQ Star Rating?

The SHQ Star Rating uses a seven-point scale inspired by the scoring values of balls on a snooker table.

Black (7 stars) represents the highest possible career classification, with lower ratings corresponding to progressively fewer career achievements.

What the SHQ Star Rating is and isn’t

The SHQ Star Rating is:

  • based on titles, longevity, and historical impact
  • intended for long-term career comparison
  • as consistent as possible across eras

The SHQ Star Rating is not:

  • an official ranking
  • a measure of current form
  • influenced by popularity or style of play
