Dave Harold’s Snooker Career

Dave Harold turned professional in 1991 and quickly developed a reputation as a tough, resilient competitor with a strong all-round game. He established himself on the professional circuit during the early 1990s, gradually working his way through the rankings.

Harold achieved a remarkable early breakthrough in 1993 when he won the Asian Open in Bangkok. Entering the tournament ranked 93rd in the world, he produced a series of disciplined performances to secure his maiden ranking title, one of the most unexpected ranking event victories of the era.

He continued to build on that success throughout the mid-1990s, reaching the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship in 1996 and becoming a regular presence in the latter stages of ranking events. His consistent results during this period lifted him to a career-high ranking of world number 11.

Harold reached the final of the 1994 Grand Prix where he was defeated by John Higgins, narrowly missing out on a second ranking title. He remained a reliable and competitive tour professional across the following decade, regularly reaching quarter-finals and semi-finals at ranking events.

Later in his career, Harold enjoyed another notable run when he reached the final of the 2008 Northern Ireland Trophy, finishing runner-up to Ronnie O’Sullivan. He continued competing professionally until 2015.
