Ronnie O’Sullivan’s Snooker Career
Ronnie O’Sullivan turned professional in 1992 and quickly established himself as one of snooker’s most gifted and instinctive talents. Nicknamed The Rocket for his speed around the table, he won the 1993 UK Championship at the age of 17 and spent the next three decades redefining what was possible at the top level of the sport.
O’Sullivan claimed his first World Championship title in 2001 and went on to collect further Crucible crowns in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2020, and 2022, drawing level with Stephen Hendry’s record of seven world titles. Across the Triple Crown, he has also won the Masters on eight occasions and the UK Championship eight times, giving him a record haul of 23 Triple Crown titles overall.
Alongside his major successes, O’Sullivan has accumulated a long list of landmark records, including the most ranking titles in history and a century break total that has surpassed the 1,000 mark. He also holds the record for the most official maximum breaks, underlining his rare combination of longevity, scoring power, and big-match temperament.
Even in the latter stages of his career, O’Sullivan has remained a prominent force. He completed a notable double in the 2023-24 season by winning the UK Championship and the Masters in successive Triple Crown events, and he continued to add to his record ranking title count with victory at the 2024 World Grand Prix.
