The second date in the CrossGuns Junior Series will take place this Saturday in Dublin.
CrossGuns Snooker Club owner Fin Ruane began the initiative earlier in September, with the promise of staging a single day of dedicated competition for Under-19 and Under-14s alike each month until next May.
At that point, the CrossGuns Junior Player of the Year and The Billiard Co. Player of the Year awards will be presented in the respective age categories.
Andrei Blondu and John Joyce lead the rankings so far after their triumphs just over three weeks ago, when 17 competitors contested an exciting opening day in Phibsboro.
Blondu also heads the high break standings after his run of 83 put him in pole position to land the SnookerHQ High Break Trophy.
With the first RIBSA Under-21 ranking event scheduled for Sunday in Carlow, the Junior Series the day before could be a great excuse to warm up ahead of a potential trip down to the Ivy Rooms – where a position on the European Under-21 Championship team will be up for grabs.
Ruane’s goal is quite simple; to provide the teenagers with as much playing time as possible as they continue their development in the sport.
It doesn’t really matter what level you play to, so if you or someone you know has an interest in competing, improving or just having some fun on the baize, then you really should take part because you’ll be treated very well at the club.
Entry is just €10 while free practice is available throughout the day when tables are available.
Play starts at 12pm, giving players from around the country the opportunity to travel to the Big Smoke without having to get up at the crack of dawn.
