The third ranking event of the Irish senior amateur campaign takes place this weekend in Carlow.
The President’s Cup, sponsored by Eamonn Kearns, has a season low of 55 entrants competing for the €500 winner’s cheque.
The top 9 seeds, including Brendan O’Donoghue and TJ Dowling who won the opening two tournaments this term, all receive a bye into the last 32.
The likes of Rodney Goggins, David Hogan, Greg Casey and Jonathan Williams enter the fray from the first round each hoping to find a run of form.
Youngsters Ross Bulman, Charlie Sweeney and Noel Landers – who have each impressed in the underage competitions this season – are among the other competitors who will be in action.
The President’s Cup is the last ranking event in 2016 and is the cut-off point for qualification for the men’s European Championship in March.
Coverage of the event is set to be streamed here.
