The Englishman, who was the overnight leader in the group stages, finished the round-robin campaign in third place with four wins from his six league encounters.

It proved enough to see him qualify for the semi-finals, where he overcame Barry Hawkins 3-1 before recording a similar scoreline against Northern Ireland’s Allen in the final.

Wilson’s 137 break in the last frame of his victory over Allen matched his previous effort from earlier in the competition against Anthony Hamtilon and earned him the high break bonus.

The former Shanghai Masters champion moves forward into March’s Winners’ Group, joining previous group champions Zhou Yuelong and Mark Selby from this month.

Allen, Hawkins, Tom Ford, and Ali Carter survived the cut and will gain another opportunity to progress in Group 4, which gets under way on Wednesday.

Hamilton and 2017 runner-up Ryan Day were eliminated after finishing bottom of Group 3 with only three wins between them.

Three-time champion Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy, and Liang Wenbo are expected to enter the fray next.
