Scottish Open qualifiers: draw and schedule

The Scottish Open qualifiers started on Monday with the players back at the Morningside Arena in Leicester.

The third of four Home Nations series events, the Scottish Open won’t take place until the middle of December.

As usual, the top 16 seeds are among a selection of players who have had their initial fixtures held over to the venue stages in Edinburgh.

The remaining competitors on the circuit must first negotiate their early ties in the cubicles.

Day one saw victories for the likes of Anthony McGill, Noppon Saengkham, Zhou Yuelong, and Si Jiahui.

All four could challenge for spots among the elite top 16 with a few strong events over the course of the next few months.

McGill, Saengkham, and Zhou had few problems in their respective whitewash wins over Ryan Thomerson, Rebecca Kenna, and Anthony Hamilton.

World Championship semi-finalist Si was made to work a lot harder but eventually fought his way past fellow Chinese cueist Tian Pengfei in a decider.

There are several intriguing ties on Tuesday, including an all-Irish showdown between Ken Doherty and Aaron Hill, and Stuart Bingham’s clash with Michael White.

Fresh off his run to the final of the Northern Ireland Open, Chris Wakelin will also be in action again when he takes on Mark Joyce.

Later this week, the likes of Ryan Day, Joe Perry, and home hopeful Graeme Dott will be attempting to reach the last 64.

Live coverage of the Scottish Open qualifiers is on Eurosport and discovery+ across all of Europe and available on Matchroom.Live in other territories (outside China).
