World Snooker Championship qualifiers: 2024 draw

A total of 128 players are set to participate in the 2024 World Snooker Championship qualifiers draw at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The action gets under way on Monday, April 8th and runs until Wednesday, April 17th.

Sixteen players will qualify from the preliminary stages to join the top 16 from the world rankings in the first-round draw at the Crucible Theatre.

What’s the format?

As in previous years, a tiered structure is being used for the qualifiers with the first round taking place between the players seeded from 81-112 against those seeded from 113-144.

A number of amateurs have been invited as top-ups – mostly through invitations from the WPBSA for achievements in the last year.

The players seeded from 49 to 80 – based on the world rankings list – will enter the fray and take on the winners from round one in round two.

Those ranked from 17-48 will finally join the action in round three, with two victories then required to seal one of the 16 coveted spots at the venue stages.

Every round will be contested over two sessions and 19 frames.

Looks like a fairly easy draw for Robertson, arguably one of the easiest he could have got. Jamie Jones, Xu Si and Zak Surety are the best players he risks meeting. He has a 7-0 H2H against Jones, 1-0 against Xu Si and has never met Surety. None of the others (Burden, Kenna and Singh Chada) have ever beaten him.

  2. Tim Pieterse

    go white!!!

    micheal that is….

  3. Jay Brannon

White is highly unlikely to qualify for Sheffield but winnable opener as Gould is out of form, partly down to health issues, and under added pressure to save his tour card.

Jamie Jones looks the big danger to Neil Robertson negotiating the qualifiers. Jones does often revel in the longer format.

I think Bingham could miss out as Elliott Slessor is in his pathway. Slessor has made good strides up the rankings this season and could take advantage of an ailing former world champion.

Marco Fu and Ken Doherty could meet in round 2. This would be a repeat of the 2006 Crucible quarter-final between the pair.

Ursenbacher against Boiko looks like one of the more appealing opening round clashes.

The first round draw will take place on Thursday, April 18th, live on Radio 5 Live and the BBC Sport website.

I wasn’t aware of that head-to-head between Jones and Robertson. It’s a concern for the Welshman as the aggregate score in frames is 37-9 to the 2010 World Champion. They’ve not met since 2017. No matter the pathway, Robertson would be a warm favourite. His A-game is amongst the top 5 I’ve ever seen.

Only one 50 break in 16 frames on day one of the World Mixed Doubles Championship.

  5. Can you just start the post with details of which channels to watch on and the date/timings – rather than us having to scroll through acres of text.

    • Dates/Times for each match have been added. Click on “Times” within each round of each Qualifier bracket. As for options to watch, it will depend on your location. If you’re in Europe, discovery+ will be streaming the qualifiers from round 1. Judgement Day (round 4) will be on WST’s YouTube channel.

  6. Really want Michael Holt to get through. Fabulous player if his head is right
