The 2024 British Open qualifiers will run from July 31st to August 3rd at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
The popular ranking event is back on the calendar for the fourth successive season following its revival in 2021.
Since then, the title has only been won by Welshmen with Mark Williams’ triumphs in 2021 and again last year sandwiching Ryan Day’s victory in 2022.
The British Open is one of only a couple of tournaments on the annual schedule that incorporates a completely random draw format.
Every player enters from the round-of-128 stage and can be drawn to face anyone else on the tour, regardless of ranking or seeding.
It means that there are already a few blockbuster ties to look forward to in the opening stages of the competition.
British Open prize money
Winner: £100,000
Runner-up: £45,000
Semi-finals: £20,000
Quarter-finals: £12,000
Last 16: £9,000
Last 32: £6,000
Last 64: £3,000
High break: £5,000
Total: £502,000
However, matches involving the top 16 seeds have been held over to the venue stages at the Centaur in Cheltenham.
That means the likes of world champion Kyren Wilson, world number Mark Allen, and reigning champion Mark Williams won’t be in action during this initial British Open qualifiers period.
Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, Mark Selby, and Luca Brecel are other highly ranked competitors who have had their fixtures deferred.
There are several big names still featuring over the next few days, though.
Among them are Neil Robertson, Jack Lisowski, Si Jiahui, Stuart Bingham, Jimmy White, and Ken Doherty.
The ranking event is a fan favourite and a betting bonanza, with markets ranging from outright winners to total century breaks made.
Leading online sportsbooks are offering a wide range of betting options for the British Open, including live betting and enhanced odds on specific players.
The venue stages of the 2024 British Open take place from September 23rd to September 29th.
