The latest snooker rankings update follows the conclusion of the 2025 World Grand Prix, the seasonโs 15th ranking tournament.
Neil Robertson triumphed at the Kai Tak Arena in Hong Kong with a thunderous 10-0 defeat of Stuart Bingham in Sunday’s one-sided final.
It marks the second time in Robertson’s career that he has won a ranking event final with a whitewash scoreline, and it was also the second trophy he claimed during this campaign.
The results at the World Grand Prix had a significant impact on the snooker rankings, so let’s review some of the updates.
Top 16
After a spell in the doldrums, Robertson briefly returned to the top 16 after his victory at the English Open in September before subsequently dropping outside the elite bracket again.
The Australian won’t have to worry about that happening again for quite some time, though.
The ยฃ180,000 champion’s cheque awarded at the World Grand Prix sees Robertson move back up to number 11 on the official two-year list.
Above the Melbourne man, the top six positions remain unchanged with Judd Trump still boasting a healthy lead in first over Kyren Wilson.
Mark Selby, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, and Luca Brecel continue to occupy the following spots, with John Higgins and Mark Allen swapping positions in seventh and eighth.
In ninth is Ding Junhui, while Shaun Murphy returns to the top ten after reaching the semi-finals in Hong Kong.
Zhang Anda and Barry Hawkins both drop two rungs on the ladder to 12th and 13th respectively behind Robertson.
Si Jiahui, Ali Carter, and Xiao Guodong complete the current crop of top 16 members.
Who were the other movers?
Given the fact that the World Grand Prix only boasted a field of 32 players, there wasn’t too much change other than that outlined above.
Bingham may have been humbled in the final, but his strong performances earlier in the tournament helped him to improve his ranking by three spots.
The veteran former world champion returns to the top 20 as a result.

1-year snooker rankings
The World Grand Prix lineup was based off the one-year snooker rankings, with the top 32 players from that list qualifying for Hong Kong.
The same list will be used to determine the participants at the upcoming Players Championship and the Tour Championship.
For the Players Championship, the field will be reduced to 16 with the draw now confirmed for that competition in Telford.
The ยฃ80,000 runner-up prize that Bingham collected proved to be enough to see him leapfrog his way into the Players Championship draw, where he will ironically face third seed Robertson in the first round.
Ali Carter’s early exit last week proved costly for the Captain, who won’t be seen again until the World Championship after dropping to 17th.
The 45 year-old has fallen to 18th in the provisional Race to the Crucible pecking order as well, meaning he’ll definitely be forced into the World Championship qualifiers this year.

Selby vs Si

Wilson vs Allen
The latest no-show from Ronnie O’Sullivan, meanwhile, ensured that he would miss out on an invite to both the Players and Tour Championships as well.
Top seed Judd Trump will face Lei Peifan in the opening round of the Players Championship, with Kyren Wilson set to face reigning champion Mark Allen.
Lei, Allen, Bingham, and Chris Wakelin are the players currently outside the top 12 and are missing out on spots at the Tour Championship in Manchester as things stand.

When is the next snooker event?
There is break from the main tour this week with the next snooker event not taking place until later in the month.
The Players Championship will run from March 17th to 23rd, with the top 16 players from the one-year snooker rankings in the draw.
Before that, however, will be the Q Tour Global Play-offs in Turkey (March 11th-13th) where three spots on the World Snooker Tour will be up for grabs.
The European Amateur Championships are also being held this week in Antalya.

Lei, Wu, Bingham and Wakelin are the only players that can break into the top 16 to be seeded for the Crucible.
After he lost 10-0 to Steve Davis in the 1989 Grand Prix Final, Dean Reynolds won his next match with the Nugget 9-7 in the quarter-finals of the same year’s World Matchplay. It was his only triumph in eight attempts over Davis.
I reckon Bingham will be quite up for his match next week with Robertson. Will be interesting to see how that one goes.
He will have the extra motivation but I do worry about these backswing issues and how much a demoralising loss will potentially accentuate these difficulties.
Yeah there were quite a few shots where he looked awkward.
I hope he can go well as he’s a great snooker man.
