Snooker during the month of August 2025

The new snooker season is well under way and there’s plenty of action to look forward to in August.

Indeed, there have already been a couple of champions crowned this month with Kyren Wilson capturing the Shanghai Masters title and Steve Mifsud winning an Asia Pacific Q Tour event in Australia.

There are some big snooker events to come later in August, so let’s a quick rundown of what there is to look forward to.

World Snooker Tour

Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters

Next up on the 2025/26 snooker calendar is the lucrative Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, which is back for its second edition.

This time, the megarich tournament heads to Jeddah where the participating players will again be competing for a mammoth £500,000 top prize.

Judd Trump is the reigning champion and will look to bounce back after the defence of his Shanghai Masters title ended prematurely in the quarter-finals.

Live coverage of the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters will be available to viewers in Ireland and the UK on discovery+ and TNT Sports.

A full tournament preview will be published on SnookerHQ.com on Thursday.

Wuhan Open

Following the play in Saudi, the players on the World Snooker Tour will return to China for the season’s first ranking event in the country.

Xiao Guodong will be the defending champion at the Wuhan Open, which is back on the calendar for the third time.

Some qualifying fixtures for this event already took place in June, with most of the last-64 lineup now known.

A rundown of the results following that round of qualifiers is available here.

World Women’s Snooker Tour

UK Women’s Championship

The opening event of the 2025/26 season on the World Women’s Snooker Tour will also take place in August, meanwhile.

The UK Women’s Championship will be staged at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds towards the end of the month.

Bai Yulu, who has won the last two World Championships on the women’s circuit, is the reigning champion of this event.

The draw for this year’s tournament has yet to be announced.

What other snooker is on in August?

World Games

Snooker, alongside three-cushion billiards and nine-ball pool, will be back at the World Games with the 2025 edition taking place during the middle of August.

Former snooker gold medalists at the World Games include Kyren Wilson, Nigel Bond, and most recent winner Cheung Ka Wai.

There is unfortunately a conflict on the scheduling between the World Games and the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, which has put some players in a difficult spot.

Chinese duo Xiao Guodong and Bai Yulu have opted to skip Saudi in favour of playing at the World Games, which will be held in Chengdu.

When is it? August 10th to August 14th

Q Tour 1

Elsewhere, the 2025/26 European swing of Q Tour will commence with event one at the Snookerhallen in Stockholm, Sweden.

Q Tour has become fiercely competitive in recent seasons, with up to four spots on the main tour up for grabs at the end of the amateur campaign.

Last season, Zhao Xintong bounced back from his ban to dominate the Q Tour circuit and top the rankings list.

Through those performances, the Chinese star was able to receive an invitation to compete at the World Snooker Championship, which he spectacularly went on to win for the first time in his career.

Xiao and Bai are certainly not just motivated by cash with their decision to play in the World Games.
