Peter Lines edged out Peter Devlin to glory as Q Tour 2 reached its climax at the HSEBC in Vienna on Sunday.
Veteran Lines, who first turned professional all the way back in 1991 but dropped off the main tour in 2023, won a close final in a tense decider.
The 55 year-old took the opening frame of the contest with a break of 71 and proceeded to move 3-1 in front after his opponent won the second frame.
Devlin, who recorded standout victories over Mark Joyce and Ashley Hugill earlier in the event, fought his way back and won the following two to force a seventh frame.
Both players had scoring opportunities at the end, but it was Lines who eventually crossed the winning line to pocket the £6,000 top prize.
It was a hard day’s work for the Leeds potter having also needed deciding frames to pip Oliver Sykes and George Pragnell in the quarter and semi-finals respecitvely.
The 2017 world seniors snooker champion rises to top spot in the rankings for this season’s Q Tour, which is one of the sport’s leading amateur circuits.
Q Tour Event 1 winner Hammad Miah suffered defeat in his opening tie of the second event, resulting in him dropping to second in the standings.
Patrick Whelan is third ahead of Devlin, Sykes, Mykhailo Larkov, Alfie Davies, and Barry Pinches.
As has become customary with the Q Tour, the top-ranked player at the end of the season will receive a two-year ticket onto the World Snooker Tour.
The following 16 players on the order of merit will enter a play-off competition, alongside winners of various tournaments on the Global Q Tour series, with three additional professional cards up for grabs.
On the Global Q Tour, there were two events staged recently in Dubai with Egyptian Mostafa Dorgham capturing Middle East Q Tour 1 and Iranian Ali Gharahgozlou winning Middle East Q Tour 2.
The next tournament on the main European swing of Q Tour takes place next month in Albania, running from October 9th to October 12th.
