Dean Reynolds’ Snooker Career
Dean Reynolds turned professional in 1981 in the same year that he won the inaugural edition of Junior Pot Black, immediately marking himself out as one of England’s leading young prospects.
He made a strong start to his professional career by qualifying for the World Championship on his debut in 1982. Reynolds defeated veteran Fred Davis in the opening round before eventually exiting the tournament in the last 16.
Throughout the 1980s, Reynolds established himself as a consistent competitor on the Main Tour, regularly reaching the latter stages of ranking events. His best period came in 1989 when he reached the finals of both the British Open and the Grand Prix.
At the 1989 Grand Prix, Reynolds suffered a heavy 10-0 defeat to Steve Davis in the final, while he was also runner-up to Tony Meo at the British Open. Nevertheless, those performances helped him rise to a career-high ranking of world number eight in 1990.
Reynolds also recorded quarter-final appearances at all three Triple Crown events during his career, highlighting his ability to compete consistently on the biggest stages of the sport.
His ranking gradually declined during the late 1990s, and he eventually suffered relegation from the professional tour in 2001. However, Reynolds remained active in the amateur game and was still competing at Q School as recently as 2026.
