It’s been a while since we’ve had a quiz so why not celebrate something a little random on this occasion – snooker nicknames!
A player hasn’t truly made it in the sport if he hasn’t been awarded with another moniker to go by.
Ricky Walden is probably the most famous player on the circuit who has never really taken to the whole premise of snooker nicknames.
Once referred to as the “Stamina Man” after racing the New York City Marathon, Walden eventually asked MC Rob Walker to stop as he didn’t like it and is probably the most high-profile figure without a quirky label.
The majority of the other stars of the game down through the years have all been branded with various snooker nicknames.
Some have been clever, a few funny, and several awful – but snooker would be an ever so slightly darker place without them.
One of the missions here on SnookerHQ down through the years has been to generate an appreciation for Jack “the Dude” Lisowski.
Lisowski currently goes by the nickname “Jackpot”, which granted does incorporate both his name and his profession, but come on – have we not all watched and loved the Big Lebowski?
There’s a select few on social media – a wise bunch if ever there was one – who have taken up the cause for the “Dude” and they should be saluted for it.
One day Lisowski, who lost in the Riga Masters final at the start of this season, will finally etch his name onto silverware and we’ll all raise a White Russian in his honour.
Anyway, back to the quiz.
There are 40 snooker nicknames for you to work with and all you have to do is match them to the correct player.
The question is, how well do you know snooker nicknames?
