2020 Masters Draw

The 2020 Masters draw has been made during the mid-session interval of the UK Championship final on Sunday in York.

This season’s second Triple Crown event is scheduled to take place from January 12-19 at the Alexandra Palace in London.

Judd Trump is the reigning champion after clinching a maiden title at the outset of this year.

The world number one will begin his defence against fellow Englishman Shaun Murphy.

The 2020 Masters draw is notable in its absence of Ronnie O’Sullivan, the record seven-time champion of the prestigious invitational.

O’Sullivan shocked the snooker world on Saturday with an announcement that he’d be skipping the action in the English capital city this term.

The result is that a tournament that usually boasts only the top 16 in the world rankings will now feature world number 17 Ali Carter as well.

Half of the field have their names on the trophy already, including Trump, Mark Selby, John Higgins, and Mark Williams.

Murphy, Neil Robertson, Mark Allen, and Ding Junhui are the others to have been crowned the Masters champion.

The latter claimed his fourth Triple Crown title with victory over Stephen Maguire in the UK Championship final on Sunday.

Both players sealed their Masters berths with their impressive runs at the Barbican Centre.

Former Masters runners-up Barry Hawkins, Joe Perry, and Kyren Wilson are also set to participate with Stuart Bingham, David Gilbert, and Jack Lisowski completing the impressive list of participants.

The players will be competing for a top prize worth £250,000, in addition to the coveted Paul Hunter Trophy that is named in honour of the three-time champion.
