Judd Trump was in improved form as he reached the second round of the European Masters on Wednesday in Germany.
The two-time former champion was without his waistcoat for the heldover preliminary match earlier in the week but was back in his own attire for a last-64 affair with Ashley Hugill.
Trump began the contest strongly with breaks of 118, 63, and 54 to establish a 4-1 lead, and despite seeing his opponent claw back two, the Englishman wrapped up the success in the eighth frame.
Mark Williams also progressed to the last 32 thanks to a 5-2 triumph over Sanderson Lam in which he compiled three half-century breaks.
Several other seeds managed to emerge unscathed, with Shaun Muphy, Jack Lisowski, and Yan Bingtao all progressing in Furth.
Murphy and Yan beat Chinese opponents Zhang Anda and Lyu Haotian respectively, while Lisowski ousted former world number four Matthew Stevens.
Elsewhere, Barry Hawkins was in high-scoring form as he tallied a brace of tons in a 5-2 defeat of Irishman Aaron Hill.
Three amateurs – added to the draw as top-ups – made it through as well with Andrew Higginson, Daniel Wells, and Farakh Ajaib recording victories.
Among the others to stay in the competition were Ricky Walden, Robert Milkins, and Dominic Dale – the latter fighting back from behind to edge Jimmy White 5-3.
In addition to rising star Jackson Page and his fellow Welshman Jamie Jones, English duo Mark Joyce and Stuart Carrington qualified for the last 32.
The second round of the European Masters takes place on Thursday with Trump, Williams, Murphy, and Zhao Xintong among those back in action.
