Three wins separate the remaining contenders from the 2026 Wuhan Open title with eight players left in the draw at the quarter-finals stage.
It’s a high-quality lineup of star names who are still in the running for the £175,000 top prize and the third ranking piece of silverware of the 2026/27 campaign.
Let’s take a look at all four upcoming ties that are on a box-office schedule for Thursday’s order of play.
Xiao Guodong vs Mark Williams
What is it about Xiao Guodong and Wuhan? The 37 year-old is now 17 games unbeaten in the tournament after beating Chris Wakelin 5-3 in the last 16.
Xiao would become only the fifth player in snooker history to win the same ranking event three times in a row if he were to go all the way again this year.
Next up is legend Mark Williams, who Xiao beat in last year’s semi-final en route to successfully defending the crown.
Williams, who defeated fellow Welshman Daniel Wells on Wednesday, enjoys the upper hand from their head-to-head record overall, though.
The three-time world champion has won five out of their seven fixtures in all competitions, including a 10-6 win to lift the Champion of Champions trophy in 2024.

Zhao Xintong vs Neil Robertson
It says a lot about the standard on display in this quarter-final lineup when Zhao Xintong against Neil Robertson probably isn’t even the match of the round.
That being said, there could be a huge amount riding on this game with the world number one position potentially up for grabs.
If Judd Trump and Mark Selby, who are both still in the hunt in the bottom half, fail to triumph in Wuhan, the winner of this Zhao-Robertson encounter will be confirmed as the sport’s top dog.
For Zhao, who beat Barry Hawkins in the last round, that would mean becoming the 13th world number one in snooker history.
Robertson has previously held the coveted status, but the last time was all the way back in 2015.
The Australian edged Liam Davies to get this far and will be hoping for a better outing than his last against Zhao, when he was thrashed 6-0 by the Cyclone in the Shanghai Masters.

Judd Trump vs Chang Bingyu
World number one Judd Trump and rising star Chang Bingyu will encounter each other for the first time in a competitive match.
Trump reached the quarters with a 5-1 defeat of Si Jiahui while Chang continued his progress from the qualifying rounds with a 5-2 success over Ali Carter.
Chang, demonstrating frightening levels of scoring power this season, looks destined to reach the highest echelons of the game in the near future.
A victory for last season’s Scottish Open finalist over an esteemed opponent in Trump would be another indication towards that likely outcome.
But Trump, who won the Shanghai Masters invitational earlier this month, remains one of the toughest competitors to overcome and is motivated in his quest to hold onto top spot in the rankings.
Only taking the Wuhan Open title this week will extend his reign at the summit of the official two-year list.

Mark Selby vs Ronnie O’Sullivan
It doesn’t get much bigger in snooker than a bruising battle between Mark Selby and Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Having met in the finals of all three Triple Crown tournaments, the pair share a long history of facing each other in important encounters,
O’Sullivan enjoys the upper hand in the overall head-to-head stats, but Selby is the man in form following his triumph at the recent China Open.
Another glory this week would see the Jester regain the world number one position for the first time since 2022.
Selby reached the last eight with a nervy 5-4 win over Pang Junxu, while O’Sullivan scored two century breaks in ousting Stephen Maguire.
That brace of tons didn’t do much to lighten the Rocket’s mood regarding his overall performances of late, but a win over a foe like Selby could certainly ignite an old spark.
Either way, when O’Sullivan and Selby encounter each other, it’s generally not to be missed.
