Scottish Open qualifiers: 2026 draw, schedule, how to watch

The 2026 Scottish Open qualifiers take place at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester this week, with players bidding to secure their places at the venue stages in Edinburgh later in the year.

This is the final leg of a three-event swing of preliminary matches in Leicester, following the qualifiers for both the Northern Ireland Open and International Championship.

The Scottish Open will be the third event on the Home Nations Series calendar this season, meanwhile, following the English Open and Northern Ireland Open.

The venue stages will take place at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh in December, with players competing for the Stephen Hendry Trophy.

Reigning champion Chris Wakelin will be looking to defend the title, but the top seed and the other top 32 players in the world rankings have all been seeded through to the venue stages in Edinburgh.

The remaining players must negotiate the qualifying competition to secure one of the other 32 places in the first-round draw.

When are the 2026 Scottish Open qualifiers?

The 2026 Scottish Open qualifiers run from September 20 to 23 at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.

The venue stages will then be held from December 14 to 20 at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh.

Who is in the draw?

The Scottish Open qualifiers feature the players outside the top 32 in the world rankings, who are competing for the remaining places in the venue-stage draw.

Among those in action will be Luca Brecel, who scored confidence-building victories in the Northern Ireland Open qualifiers and International Championship qualifiers in recent days.

Brecel is also a former Scottish Open champion having got his hands on the Stephen Hendry Trophy back in 2021.

Several Scottish players will be attempting to reach their home tournament, including former ranking event winner Anthony McGill and Scott Donaldson, who each enter the fray in round two of the preliminaries.

Ross Muir, Liam Graham, and a couple of local amateurs are also in the lineup from the initial round-of-128 stage.
