Former champion Luca Brecel was among those who qualified for the 2026 Scottish Open as the final results from the qualifiers wrapped up on Wednesday.
A long batch of qualifiers at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester saw the preliminary phases for three tournaments take place across 11 days.
Brecel showed signs of a welcome return to form by safely negotiating his way through to the venue stages of each event.
The 2023 world snooker champion is languishing pretty far down the provisional end-of-season rankings, but his hat-trick of victories in the qualifiers have eased any tour survival concerns a little.
Brecel, the Scottish Open champion in 2021, confirmed his return to the Home Nations Series tournament with a 4-0 defeat of Gong Chenzhi.
The Belgian Bullet previously safeguarded his spot at both the Northern Ireland Open and the International Championship in recent days.
Elsewhere, there was success for a couple of Scots with both Anthony McGill and Scott Donaldson booking their tickets to Edinburgh for the 2026 Scottish Open.
In a positive sign for the development of youth in the game, Stan Moody, Liam Davies, Liam Pullen, Aaron Hill, Dylan Emery, and Iulian Boiko each qualified.
There were victories for several seasoned professionals as well, though, with the likes of Matthew Stevens, Ryan Day, Matthew Selt, and Jimmy Robertson progressing unscathed.
As usual, China was well represented with Xi Si, Fan Zhengyi, Lyu Haotian, Gao Yang, Yao Pengcheng, Jiang Jun, and Liu Hongyu all moving forward.
The latter earned a dramatic 4-3 defeat of Jimmy White to deny the Whirlwind, who had compiled a 131 break in the fifth frame to lead 3-2.
The 32 qualifiers join the top 32 seeds from the world rankings who are automatically in the draw at the last-64 point, with the tournament proper running from December 14 to 20.

How many times has a woman achieved a whitewash win on the tour ?
As Robert the Milkman Milkins said a couple of days ago ‘when you run out of money you start playing well again’, or words to that effect. Luca Brecel was running out of tour ranking points anyway! Its a bit like Stephen Maguire who seemed to rally and go deep into a tournament or two just when he needed to after periods of utterly indifferent performances. That kind of pattern seems to have stopped for Maguire recently though. Luca Brecel seems to me to walk the same sort of walk as those two. The difference being that he has summited snooker in his time.
White will rue the fourth frame where a careless safety shot on the final brown gave Liu Hongyu the necessary foul points he required to pinch the frame on the black. The Whirlwind produced all the notable breaks in this contest but ultimately misses out on Edinburgh.
His contribution if 131 was his highest break for over three years. He’s now recorded four centuries this term, a total of three more than he the whole of last season.
