QUIZ! World Snooker Championship Semi-Finals

It’s the singe table set-up in Sheffield and the destiny of the 2020 title will be determined in a matter of days.

The World Snooker Championship semi-finals stage at the Crucible Theatre is always a special affair, as the divide that separates the arena is lifted and the remaining players can enjoy the freedom of an open arena.

Such is the huge contrast between the two layouts that the four contenders will now have to adjust to a noticeably extra amount of floor space, and they can each simultaneously revel in the independence of not being required to sit alongside their opponent – a factor that during this unusual edition has taken on even greater significance.

For some, reaching the semi-finals of the World Championship will prove to be the pinnacle of their entire careers, almost on a par with achieving a high ranking or possibly even a smaller ranking event success.

For others, however, the last four represents just the latest stepping stone en route to accomplishing the ultimate goal of glory in the greatest venue of them all.

It’s always incredible to think that, despite having won three rounds to reach this point of the tournament, the quartet is only at the halfway mark in terms of frames won at the Crucible.

While it was necessary to bag 36 frames in order to get beyond the quarter-finals – for most players this year, at least – a further 35 frames are required if the trophy is to be raised aloft on Sunday.

The 2020 World Championship semi-finals got under way on Wednesday, with the first of four sessions in each tie already completed.

Including this year’s foursome, a total of 57 players have embarked on a run to the World Snooker Championship semi-finals since the inaugural hosting of the event at the Crucible in 1977.

The question is, can you match the players who reached the World Snooker Championship semi-finals with the correct year?
