Next week’s event will be the last of what has been a turbulent 2020 calendar year.
The World Grand Prix line-up is now confirmed after defeats in the Scottish Open for every player outside the top 32 on the one-year rankings list.
The eight remaining contenders for the ongoing Home Nations event in Milton Keynes are all safely inside the cut-off point.
Only the top 32 highest earners from this season so far will qualify to compete in the World Grand Prix.
China’s Li Hang secured a vital 4-3 victory over Stuart Bingham in the last 16 of the Scottish Open on Thursday to elevate himself into the coveted spots.
A 4-1 loss for Mark Williams against Judd Trump ensured that the Welshman is one of the biggest names who will miss out on a shot at the £100,000 top prize next week in Milton Keynes.
Stephen Maguire, David Gilbert, and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh were other members from the official top 16 who suffered from poor recent runs of form.
The likes of Trump, who has already won two ranking events this season, European Masters champion Mark Selby, Championship League winner Kyren Wilson, and recent UK champion Neil Robertson were already assured of their places.
World champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, Shaun Murphy, Ding Junhui, and Mark Allen are a few of the other familiar names set to participate.
While the World Grand Prix line-up is confirmed, the all-important seeding could still change depending on the outcome of the Scottish Open, which would in turn have an impact on the first-round draw.
More information about the draw will be published as soon as it is confirmed.
