Ronnie O’Sullivan is among the 32 players who will take part in the 2023 Six Red World Championship in March.
The Rocket will participate in the tournament for the first time in his career when it returns to Bangkok in Thailand later this season.
A qualifying tournament was held during the last few days at the Metrodome in Barnsley, providing four places in the main draw.
Ali Carter was among the quartet who emerged from the five preliminary rounds, with the Captain seeing off Zhou Yuelong 6-1 at the final hurdle.
Jimmy Robertson, Chris Wakelin, and Zhang Anda were the other three competitors to make it through the qualifying process.
They will join the 28 players who were already invited to take part in what will be the first edition of the competition since 2019.
That year’s world six reds champion Stephen Maguire will finally get the opportunity to defend the title he won at the Bangkok Convention Center.
Indeed, every former champion is in the field with the exception of three-time six reds winner Mark Davis, who lost in the qualifiers.
That includes Mark Selby, Mark Williams, Kyren Wilson, Ding Junhui, Ricky Walden, Jimmy White, and home hero Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
In addition to world number one O’Sullivan, there are several other members from the world’s top 16 in the 2023 Six Red World Championship.
Higgins, Judd Trump, and Mark Allen are among the other notable names in what is a high-quality field assembling.
The tournament takes places from March 6th to March 11th, with the draw expected to be announced soon.
