The days are counting down to the start of another snooker season with the 2025/26 calendar not far away from getting under way.
It has been just over a month since Zhao Xintong brought the curtain down on the 2024/25 term with his super success at the World Championship in Sheffield.
Playing under amateur status, the 28 year-old fought his way through from the very first qualifying round to become a maiden Chinese world champion on the main tour – beating Mark Williams in the final at the Crucible Theatre.
Since then, there hasn’t been any action on the World Snooker Tour, albeit there has been some important snooker conducted elsewhere.
Alfie Burden emerged as the newest world seniors champion, while Bai Yulu successfully defended her Women’s World Championship crown.
There was a stressful off-season Q School period, with two tournaments in Thailand and two events in England producing 12 graduates to the main tour.
On this day in June 12 months ago, the 2024/25 snooker season commenced, but fans will have to wait another couple of weeks for the opening shots to be taken this year.
The qualifying rounds for the Wuhan Open kick start the new term – running for three days from Sunday, June 22nd at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
The same venue will then host what has become a somewhat traditional opening to a new campaign in recent years.
The ranking event version of Championship League Snooker will again transpire over the quieter summer spell, this time scheduled from June 30th to July 23rd.
It will provide the World Snooker Tour players with their first opportunity to win silverware in what promises to be another fiercely competitive season.
Beyond that, many of the tournaments on the 2025/26 snooker calendar remain similarly positioned.
Judd Trump will look to defend the prestigious Shanghai Masters invitational title in late-July and early-August.
The world number one is also the reigning champion of the lucrative Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, which is additionally in August.
Into the autumn and winter at the back end of the year, there are the usual events to look forward to.
The British Open and three out of the four Home Nations events will be staged before the festive season.
There will be three important Chinese ranking events as well, notably the Wuhan Open, Xi’an Grand Prix, and the International Championship.
The Champion of Champions and the UK Championship continue to occupy their familiar slots in November and early-December respectively.
Into 2026, the Masters is pencilled in for a return to the Alexandra Palace from January 11th to 18th.
The German Masters, Welsh Open, and World Open are all back on the calendar too.
Only the World Grand Prix and the Tour Championship from the Players Series have been confirmed for the 2025/26 snooker calendar so far.
However, there are several gaps on the schedule as things stand with possible opportunities for events – either old or new – to still be slotted in.
Notable omissions at the moment from the new calendar that were previously on last year’s agenda are the Players Championship and the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship.
The 2026 World Snooker Championship, meanwhile, will take place from April 18th to May 4th.
Another exciting season on the main tour to look forward to then, one that will represent a landmark 15th covered by SnookerHQ.com.

It would be helpful if you could say which tv channels are showing the marches.
That will depend on your location, and some broadcasting options have not been confirmed or announced. Before each tournament, there is usually a preview article published on this site with information on how to watch, so please check back then for that information.
Is there any calendar ICs? I only found last years one.
