It’s all gone a little quiet after the conclusion of the Masters – the prestigious invitational event won by Judd Trump for the first time on Sunday.
While the Championship League has resumed at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, it still feels like there’s a moment of pause ahead of the upcoming ranking event in Germany.
David Gilbert did, however, manage to generate a few headlines on Tuesday when he became the player to complete the maximum of maximums.
The 147th official 147 break in professional snooker occurred in a round-robin fixture in Group Five of the Championship League with only Gilbert’s opponent Stephen Maguire and referee Paul Collier in attendance to witness the feat.
Championship League Group Six takes place over the next couple of days while it’s the penultimate event on the inaugural Challenge Tour this weekend in Sheffield.
The focus will subsequently turn to Berlin, with the action returning to the ever-popular Tempodrom for the start of the German Masters next Wednesday.
From then, there won’t be too many periods of respite with almost relentless snooker to look forward to between the start of February and the conclusion of the World Snooker Championship in early May.
